Cairns Absolute Beachfront Luxury Holiday House Accommodation

The beach directly in front of Gaia is called Trinity Beach, and is a small, private cove sheltered by a southern headland. This delightfully intimate bay, fringed by coconut trees and casuarinas, attracts an eclectic mix of holiday makers drawn to its great restaurants, superb location and easy, tropical charm.

Trinity Beach is 20 minutes drive north of Cairns airport. It has its own shopping precinct (about 2 minutes drive by car from Gaia) with a supermarket, liquor store, newsagent, pharmacy, hairdresser, bakery, video/dvd store and more.

One of a string of beaches spreading north from the city of Cairns, Trinity Beach is also 10 minutes drive away from the tourist centre of Palm Cove, with its cosmopolitan restaurants and cafes, international resorts and spas. Two major regional shopping centres are also within 10 minutes drive of Trinity Beach.

Port Douglas, a delightful day destination, is 35 minutes drive north along one of Australia’s great coastal scenic routes.

Cairns is a cosmopolitan city catering to about 130,000 residents and 2 million visitors a year. Excellent restaurants, nightlife, museums, galleries and free attractions bring visitors of all ages here.

Departure point for reef cruises is the Cairns Marina and Reef Fleet Terminal. As well as here, you’ll discover great shopping at the nearby Pier, the Esplanade and Lake Streets precincts, and the Grafton Street/Cairns Central Shopping centre precinct. Shields Street is foodie heaven, or head for Marina Dining at the Pier complex. The region’s fresh seafood, exotic tropical fruits, eclectic menus and visitor tastes and wonderful lifestyle attract some of Australia’s top chefs to live and work here.

As night falls, head out for entertainment at The Reef Hotel Casino, or one of the many great service clubs, nightclubs or bars around the city and its fringes. The Cairns Night Markets on the Esplanade are a great spot to shop until late, after a day’s touring or sightseeing. The Esplanade precinct has undergone a multi-million dollar transformation and redevelopment and now boasts a superb, infinity-edged 4 hectare swimming pool which is free to the public and open daily between 6am and 10pm. Waterfront boardwalks, markets, free barbeque areas and a children’s water park playground are also all part of the new Cairns development on the Esplanade.

Tropical North Queensland is a region world famous for its Great Barrier Reef and the World Heritage-listed Tropical Rainforests. The local tourism industry is a sophisticated and diverse enterprise. Around 600 day tours and activities can be undertaken in the region, including a myriad of ways to experience the reef itself. You can hire a car (Trinity Beach has car rental) or choose not to because all tour operators include the option of pick ups for day tours.

Australia’s Tropical Rainforests are found both north and south of Trinity Beach. You can visit on your own or by a tour. A popular way to visit the rainforest is via the Skyrail Rainforest Cableway to Kuranda, the rainforest village behind Cairns. Many guests travel back on the Kuranda Scenic Railway to Cairns.

Beside the reef and the rainforest, there are great local shopping, markets, culture and art galleries, leisure and action sports, and more. If you’ve a passion for sports, there’s golf, hang-gliding, parasailing, tandem parachuting, kayaking, canoeing, white-water rafting and even a cable ski park. Further afield from the immediate environs of Cairns and the Northern Beaches, you’ll also be tempted to explore the beautiful regions of Mission Beach, the Atherton Tablelands and Port Douglas, Daintree and Cape Tribulation.

These are all within 90 minutes drive of tranquil Trinity Beach and your beachside haven, Gaia.
